The purpose of medical acupuncture is to treat and to assist the healing process in musculoskeletal conditions, and in acute and chronic pain related to connective tissue disorders. In other words, medical acupuncture is first and foremost a corrective and restorative therapy. Acupuncture can relieve inflammation and swelling by using acupressure, electric stim units, or by placing needles around the site of pain/injury.
Acupuncture stimulates the activation of the brains naturally occurring pain relievers by releasing neurochemicals, endorphins, and promoting the circulatory system to remove micro tears in the muscle (often referred to as “knots”).
