What is Medical Acupuncture?
The purpose of medical acupuncture is to treat and to assist the healing process in musculoskeletal conditions, and in acute and chronic pain related to connective tissue disorders. In other words, medical acupuncture is first and foremost a corrective and restorative therapy. Acupuncture can relieve inflammation and swelling by using acupressure, electric stim units, or by placing needles around the site of pain/injury.
Acupuncture stimulates the activation of the brains naturally occurring pain relievers by releasing neurochemicals, endorphins, and promoting the circulatory system to remove micro tears in the muscle (often referred to as “knots”).

What happens during treatment?
Your acupuncturist will ask about your health history and may perform a brief physical exam, depending on your individual health needs. After assessing your health, the acupuncturist will be able to recommend a proper treatment plan to address your particular condition. To begin the acupuncture treatment, you lay comfortably on a treatment table while precise acupoints are stimulated on various areas of your body. Most people feel no or minimal discomfort as the fine needles are gently placed. The needles typically remain in place between 5 and 30 minutes.
This Five Point Acupuncture Protocol is a standard, non-talk therapy treatment for substance misuse and stress reduction. It involves placing disposable acupuncture needles into five auricular acupuncture points in the ear.
NADA can assist with:
- Stress Relief. Regular treatments aid in headache relief and pain management.
- Addiction Cessation. Symptoms associated with withdrawal and detoxification are reduced.
